Surgery Update 8th October 2021

COVID-19 Booster

If you are over 50 you will be able to book a covid booster 6 months after your second vaccination. You will be invited by the NHS to book at a hub or by us to book an appointment at the surgery. We have limited vaccines and will invite patients in cohort order and are currently inviting the patients over the age of 70 and those in a clinical at risk group. Please do not phone the surgery.

Flu Clinics

These will be bookable appointments only (no walk-in appointments) We are currently awaiting a further delivery. We will advise when we have a delivery on our website.

We are prioritising our patient’s aged 65 and older and those in a clinical at risk group. If you are a healthy 50-64 year old you are able to have a flu vaccine but we will not be setting up clinics until later in the year and have had our full delivery of vaccines arrive in the surgery. You can book a vaccine at a pharmacy free of charge.

Blood bottle shortage

There is an ongoing national shortage of blood bottles and as advised by the government we are having to cancel routine tests. Please see the alert at the top of our website page.

Demand

We are experiencing a huge surge in demand for appointments (around 20% higher than before the pandemic) please consider self-help for basic ailments (cuts, grazes and tummy upsets) Pharmacies for advice on ailments and medication. 111 – When the surgery is closed and you need medical help fast, but it is not a life threatening situation or you need to go to A&E. 999 – for a life threatening situation. We apologise if you are having to wait a little longer for your phone call to be answered, please be patient and polite to our reception team who are working very hard to keep up with demand. If you are unable to attend your appointment it is important that you phone and cancel in time for us to offer this to someone else.

Thank you.
